1. What Does SPF Actually Mean?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, and it measures how well a sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays—the ones that cause sunburn. For example, SPF 30 means it would take 30 times longer for your skin to burn compared to having no protection. Higher SPF = more coverage, but no sunscreen blocks 100% of rays.

2. How to Choose and Use SPF Correctly

  • Use daily, even on cloudy days—UV rays can penetrate clouds and windows.
  • Apply generously —about a teaspoon for your face and neck.
  • Reapply every 2 hours, especially if you're sweating or swimming.
  • Choose the right formula for your skin type—lightweight gels or fluids for oily skin, rich creams for dry skin, and fragrance-free products for sensitive skin.
